Shivneri Fort is situated in Junnar district of Pune district. The fort is situated approximately 105 kilometers from Pune city. The Government of India, on 26 May, The National Protected Monument of Maharashtra has been declared as the 1909.
On February 19, 1630, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born on Shivneri Fort. This fort is difficult to climb with all four sides and it is difficult to win. On the fort there are pictures of Shiva Devi temple and Jijabai and Baal-Shivaji. The shape of this fort is like the Shilingam.
Shivneri Caves are situated on the Shivneri fort in Junnar taluka in Pune district of Maharashtra.
It has about 84 caves engraved. Out of these, the South section has 23, 55 in the East and 6 in the West.
Apart from this, around 60 kundas of water and around these caves, there are nine inscriptions in Brahmi script. The walls of the viharas have colorful pictures on the roofs. These pictures appear to be mostly extinct.
